Cloud Horizon vs Vantage, CloudHealth, Cloudability, and DIY
Honest comparison. We are aimed at mid-market engineering teams (typically $50K to $500K monthly cloud spend) who want anomaly detection and attribution working the same day. If you are a Fortune 500 with a 12-person FinOps team, you probably want CloudHealth or Cloudability. If you are AWS-first and want a self-serve tool, Vantage is solid. If you have one platform engineer with time, DIY is real.

When Vantage is the right call
You are AWS-heavy, you want a self-serve tool you can stand up in an afternoon, and you want a published flat-tier price. Vantage is a well-built product with a focused AWS surface. Where Cloud Horizon wins is the same-day Azure and GCP coverage, the hand-reviewed alerts, and the MCP server for AI agents.
When CloudHealth is the right call
You run multi-cloud at the $5M+/year scale, you have a FinOps team dedicated to it, and you need governance features (budget approvals, chargeback workflows, complex business mapping) that we do not build. CloudHealth is a serious enterprise tool. Be ready for the sales cycle and the percentage-of-spend pricing.
When Cloudability is the right call
You want IT financial management beyond cloud (Apptio TBM, on-prem cost allocation, application-level cost) and you have a CFO ready to buy the broader Apptio suite. Cloudability is solid inside that ecosystem. If you only care about cloud spend, the surface area is more than you need.
When DIY is the right call
You have a platform engineer who can spend two to four weeks on it and a culture that maintains internal tooling. CUR + Athena + QuickSight will get you 70% of what we do for the cost of an engineer quarter. The hard part is keeping it current as AWS adds services and your tags drift. Most teams build it once, then nobody owns it.
When Cloud Horizon is the right call
You run AWS and Azure (and maybe GCP), you spend $50K to $500K a month, you got a surprise bill last quarter, and you do not have a dedicated FinOps person. You want anomaly detection working tomorrow and a flat fee on the invoice. Free 14-day audit gets you the findings before you commit to anything.
